Agentic AI: Agents That Do Real Work, Not Just Chat
A chatbot answers. An agent works. This dedicated Agentic AI page explains the loop, the tools, and the safety rules, so you can use agents without handing them the keys to everything.
ChromeAI Hub, updated 14 Oct 2026. Check official pages before you pay, because prices and features change fast.
What makes an agent different
An agent does four things in a loop: understand the goal, make a plan, use tools to act, then check the result and fix it. Example: Research a topic, open pages, take notes, draft a summary, and ask you before it sends anything.
The agent loop
- Goal: You give a clear task and limits. Example: Summarize these 5 pages, do not buy anything.
- Plan: The agent breaks the task into steps.
- Act: It uses tools: browser, files, code, or apps.
- Check: It reviews its own output and shows you what it did.
Where agents help most in 2026
- Coding: Claude Code, Cursor, and similar tools can read a repo, write code, run tests, and fix errors. Always review the diff.
- Research: Agents can gather sources, compare prices, and build a table. Always check the sources yourself.
- Browser work: Agents can fill forms, scrape public pages, and test a site. Never give them your passwords or payment details.
- Automation: Agents can move files, update sheets, and draft messages. Start with low-risk tasks.
Risks you must set limits for
Three rules: 1) Never give an agent full access to email, bank, or admin accounts. 2) Set a spending and step limit. 3) Ask it to show its work before it sends, deletes, or buys anything.
How to start safely, today
- Pick one low-risk task, like summarizing 3 articles.
- Write the goal, the sources, and what not to do.
- Run it, read the full log, and check every claim.
- Only then, give it a slightly bigger task.
Bottom line: Agents save time when the task is clear, the tools are limited, and you check the result. They cause trouble when the goal is vague and the permissions are wide.
